Reading these articles breaks my heart so badly. If I could have one moment with Tyler Clementi or any other young person who is severely depressed due to bullying for simply being who they are, I would hug them, make them feel loved and accepted, and try to bring them hope. No one knows how much one snide remark can hurt. You do it for amusement, because YOU’RE having a bad day, because you’re jealous, don’t understand someone, don’t particularly like them. Think about how this person you’re bullying might go home and cut, O.D., or try to kill themselves because they can’t take it anymore. Is your disapproval really worth a life of an innocent person?
I’ve had times when I have ignored someone, or said something nasty, but now all I want to do is let everyone know that they are appreciated, and show everyone love and respect as long as they do the same for me. I may come off as too loving sometimes, but you know what? I’d rather be known for being too nice than being a ridiculer.
Something I really want to do is to help young people who are going through a tough time because of bullying. Currently working on a project that I am really passionate about, and I’m hoping that others will identify with the message and want to help make these ideas a reality.
